The region

Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. Benefit Corporation is based in Arzignano and deals with the integrated Water Service for residents of the Valle del Chiampo and with the sewerage and industrial wastewater treatment service of the most important tanning area in Italy of international significance.

The Valle del Chiampo is a pre-alpine valley enclosed between the Piccole Dolomiti and the Monti Lessini and is located in the far west of the Vicenza province. The Gramolon stream, which originates from the mountain of the same name, flows through it, and, near Montebello Vicentino, it receives the Rio Rodegotto, subsequently flowing into the Alpone stream, which crosses the adjacent valley in the Verona area, before flowing into the Adige river.

The Valle del Chiampo has unique hydrogeological features, a wealth of aquifers and sources of supply that have supported the development of multiple industrial activities, including tanning, chemicals, paper-making, engineering and marble-working.

The area served by Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. Benefit Corporation falls within the Optimal Territorial Area of ​​the Valle del Chiampo (ATO) consisting of 13 Municipalities in the Vicenza province, which in 2012 signed the agreement establishing the Valle del Chiampo Basin Council. The ATO Valle del Chiampo is the smallest one in Italy and is divided into two areas: the High Valley which includes the municipalities of Altissimo, Crespadoro, Nogarole Vicentino and San Pietro Mussolino, and the Valley Floor which includes Arzignano, Chiampo, Montebello Vicentino, Montorso Vicentino, Gambellara, Zermeghedo, Montecchio Maggiore, Brendola and Lonigo.
