The Industrial and Civil Sewerage Consortium (FIC) is established
The Industrial and Civil Sewerage Consortium (FIC) is established with the aim of combining economic development and environmental sustainability, through the construction of a civil and industrial sewerage system and the management of the related treatment plants serving the areas of Arzignano, Chiampo, Montorso Vicentino, San Pietro Mussolino, Altissimo and Crespadoro.
Construction of the Arzignano treatment plant
The year that the Merli Law regulating the discharge of wastewater came into force, construction begins of the Arzignano plant for the treatment of the wastewater produced by the tanning area.
The FIC Consortium becomes Acque del Chiampo S.p.A.
In 1999 the Consortium becomes Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. and the following year it takes on the duties associated with the function of managing body of the Integrated Water Service in 10 Municipalities of the Optimal Territorial Area ‘Valle del Chiampo’.
Establishment of the Aziende Riunite Collectore Acque consortium (A.Ri.C.A.)
Merger by incorporation of Azienda Intercomunale Servizi Ambientali S.p.A.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. joins the consortium Aziende Riunite Collettore Acque (A.Ri.C.A.), which has the objective of ensuring the controlled discharge of purified water into watercourses and contributing to the protection of ground water resources.
In the same year Azienda Intercomunale Servizi Ambientali S.p.A. is incorporated (AISA).
Incorporation of Montecchio Brendola Servizi S.p.A.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. incorporates the business unit responsible for managing the Integrated Water Service of Montecchio Brendola Servizi S.p.A. (MBS).
Participation in the Viveracqua S.c.a.r.l. Consortium
Since 2012 Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. has been part of the Viveracqua S.c.a.r.l. Consortium which includes all in-house providers of the Veneto Region’s Integrated Water Service.
Merger by incorporation of Pulistrade S.r.l.
In 2015 Pulistrade s.r.l. is merged by incorporation, for the management of gully emptiers.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. becomes Benefit Corporation
The transformation into Benefit Corporation which had begun the previous year is completed. Benefit Corporations are companies that, in carrying out their business, also pursue goals of common benefit, operating in a responsible, sustainable and transparent manner towards people, communities, regions and the environment, cultural and social assets and activities, institutions and associations and other stakeholders.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. Benefit Corporation is a joint-stock company with 100% public capital that manages the Integrated Water Service, sewerage and industrial treatment for the 10 Municipalities that are part of the Optimal Territorial Area of the Chiampo Valley (Arzignano, Altissimo, Brendola, Chiampo, Crespadoro, Lonigo, Montecchio Maggiore, Montorso Vicentino, Nogarole Vicentino and San Pietro Mussolino), as well as the liquid waste collection and disposal service, providing citizens and businesses with a valuable service, fully respecting the environment, at affordable rates.
The Company is organised under a general manager overseeing four main areas: Accounts, Networks, Engineering and Treatment. The six services relating to Legal and Corporate Affairs – Board of Directors Secretariat, Human Resources, Monitoring and Checks, Laboratory, Information Technology, Authorisations and Regulatory Affairs – work in staff with the general management.
In the region it serves, Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. Benefit Corporation manages a civil and industrial water supply network. Water is distributed to users through 997 km of aqueduct network, of which 19 km are for industrial use.
The main source of the water supply consists of valley floor wells but also of springs at altitude.
The industrial aqueduct draws water from 5 additional wells that serve a single network solely catering for the tanning industry.
The sewerage network is divided into three main systems that convey wastewater to the treatment plants of Arzignano, Lonigo and Montecchio Maggiore.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.A Benefit Corporation manages 814 km of residential sewers and 39 km of industrial sewers.
The purpose of the industrial sewerage system is to collect industrial wastewater only, mainly from the tannery sector, to convey it to the Arzignano treatment plant.
The service offered involves the purification treatment of the wastewater generated by residential and industrial users. The treatment consists in the removal of contaminants through a combination of one or more chemical, physical and biological processes, with the final aim of being able to feed the water back into the environment. Acque del Chiampo S.p.A Benefit Corporation manages the three treatment plants of Arzignano, Montecchio Maggiore and Lonigo, as well as 6 smaller plants and thirty-three Imhoff tanks.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. Benefit Corporation also manages 9 landfills, 7 of which are fully owned and 2 in concession. Only one of them is operational – 1 is being shut down and 7 are in post-closure care. All landfills are subject to continuous monitoring – a network of piezometers is in place for monitoring the aquifer.
It deals with the management of relations with users, seeking maximum customer satisfaction, ensuring that the services are provided promptly, with quality and care, in accordance with the standards set by the Integrated Water Service Charter.
The laboratory accredited in accordance with the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard carries out qualitative and quantitative analyses for approximately 400,000 parameters per year:
· samples from the water treatment process;
· samples of the drinking water distributed to households;
· industrial wastewater in sewers (400 samples a month);
· liquid waste delivered to the treatment plant by tanker trucks;
· solid waste delivered to the landfill, from the treatment plant or from tanneries;
· excavation soil and rock;
· emissions.

The service carries out its tasks with a special focus on the current environmental legislation, in a broad sense, and in compliance with the provisions of the specific authorisation requirements, with particular reference to their exact fulfilment.
Acque del Chiampo S.p.a. Benefit Corporation manages two treatment plants, located in the municipality of Arzignano (VI) and Montecchio Maggiore (VI), authorised by the Veneto Region for the biological treatment of non-hazardous special liquid waste.
The waste that can be disposed of comes, for example, from the food and tanning sectors, from the anaerobic treatment of waste, from printing with inks on paper and municipal waste.
In addition to the disposal service, for companies of ATO Valle del Chiampo and neighbouring areas, we are able to also offer the transport service with tanker trucks owned by Acque del Chiampo S.p.A. Benefit Corporation.
The Shareholders’ Meeting is the collegial and deliberation body that represents the ten member municipalities. The Shareholders’ Meeting has broad policy powers and establishes strategic objectives.
The vote of individual members is proportionate to the number of shares held.
The Board of Directors is vested with all ordinary and extraordinary management powers, excluding those which are, by law or by statute, vested in the shareholders’ meeting.
